A man living in Mountain View who was the suspect in the theft of a mower in Prairie County has been charged with an illegal drug felony, authorities report.

Prairie County Sheriff Ronnie Hickman contacted Lt. Dammon McGilton of the Stone County Sheriff’s Office about the suspect, identified as Ronnie Dale Daberry, 45.

Hickman said photos of the mower were posted on the website Craigslist. It showed the mower to be for sale and located in Mountain View. Authorities say Dayberry and his girlfriend had been living in Mountain View for several months. Officials from the Stone County Sheriff’s Office met with their Prairie County counterparts, along with Dayberry’s parole officer, who decided a home visit was needed.

During that home visit, drug paraphernalia including a used syringe and metal spoons with meth residue on them were located in a back room, according to the affidavit of probable cause for arrest. Authorities also found a syringe on the console of the vehicle Dayberry was sitting in when they arrived at the residence. That syringe had meth residue on it as well, officials say.

Sheriff Hickman also found a mower that matched photos of the mower stolen in Prairie County. They also say they found a fake bill of sale concerning the mower. Dayberry denied knowledge of the lawnmower or the bill of sale. Police say they he did admit to using meth, court records report.

Dayberry was arrested and charged with felony possession of drug paraphernalia. He is also being charged as a habitual offender. His bond is set at $10,000.
