James Bridgeman,77, of Newport passed from this life on April 7, 2024.  He was born September 26, 1946, to James Romig Bridgeman and Zula (Fisher) Taylor.

James lived a life filled with simple joys and meaningful pursuits. Whether casting his line into tranquil waters, solving crossword puzzles, or meticulously crafting model ships, he found contentment in the quiet moments. With a penchant for construction work, he built more than just structures; he built a legacy of hard work and dedication. For over three decades, he dedicated himself to the Brown Jordan Factory, leaving an indelible mark on his workplace and community. Known as “Tow Motor” on the C.B. Radio waves, he connected with others and shared camaraderie. Above all, his 56-year marriage to Brenda Sue Catterlin was the cornerstone of his life, embodying love, devotion, and companionship.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, JR Taylor and his sister, Peggy Taylor.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Bridgeman; his sons, Charles Dobbs, Rodney (Amy) Bridgeman, and Scott (Christy) Bridgeman; his grandchildren, Lacy (Bryce) Shelton, Jacob Bridgeman, Josh (Charlie) Bridgeman, and Eli (Ashlee) Dobbs, Olivia (Travis) Owens, Emily (Dustin) Dubar and Madeline (Seth) Snipes; seven great-grandchildren; his sisters, JoAnn Foushee of Thida and Jean Sisk of Oil Trough; several nieces, nephews and friends.
