Obituary: Wilda (Sullins) Hodges

Wilda (Sullins) Hodges of Newark, Arkansas, departed this life on Friday, April 12, 2024, at the age of 85. She was born April 10, 1939, in Independence County, the daughter of Silvia Enos Sullins and Mina Ellen (Davis) Sullins.

On July 23, 1956, Miss Wilda Louise Sullins married Ernest Hodges Jr. They raised three children and enjoyed 62 years of marriage.

Mrs. Hodges worked in the cafeteria of the Newark School System before retiring. She enjoyed sewing, fishing, and searching for treasures at yard sales and Goodwill. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching Duck Dynasty. Most importantly, she cherished spending time with her family.

She was a member of the Newark Church of Christ.

Mrs. Hodges was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Hodges, Jr.; one grandson, Kristofer Coleman; three brothers, Gerald Sullins, Jennings Sullins, and Preston Sullins; and her parents.

She is survived by one son, Michael Ernest Hodges and wife, Reeda, of Newark; two daughters, Debbie Coleman of Newark and Kathy Carey and husband, Tim, of Paragould; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2024, at Newark Church of Christ. The interment will be in Blue Springs Cemetery. Friends may visit at the church on Monday, 1:00 p.m. until service time.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Brandon Hodges, Landon Hodges, A.J. Coleman, Steven Scudder, A.J. Holland, Dennis Carpenter, William Sutton, and Bevin Gay.
