Obituary: Kathleen (Kathy) Renee Winter

Kathleen (Kathy) Renee Winter, 75, of Mountain View, Arkansas, entered into the peace of the Lord on April 15th, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born April 20th, 1948, in Lynnwood, California, to Morris Samuel and Vera (Tompson) Briggs.

Kathy was of the Catholic faith and a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. She enjoyed spending time with family, building custom cars and touring the country, cooking, making stained glass windows, and gardening. Kathy was an avid sewer. She had an amazing ability when it came to quilting, knitting, and crocheting. Kathy was a successful entrepreneur, from working in the food industry to working with her husband in business. Without a doubt, she was the best at whatever she was determined to do. Kathy always put her family first, above all she wanted them all to feel her love and to have joy and happiness forever in their lives. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of sixty years, William Bruce Winter, of the home; two children, William (Sirina) Winter of Mokelumne Hill, California and Sandra (Brian Bognuda) Brown of Ferndale, California; five siblings, Gordon (Marlene) Briggs, Judy (Lee) Ferdenhansen, Mike (Charmaine) Briggs, Tim (Marion) Briggs, and Debbie (Marty) Durkin; ten grandchildren, Jasmine, Dakota, Will, Johnny, Gabe, Gaige, Colton, Wolfric, Baron, and Otto; three great-grandchildren, Olivia, Oliver, and Felix. Kathy is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Vera Briggs; one brother, Dan Briggs.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, April 17th, 2024 at the Mountain View Funeral Service Chapel, beginning at 6:00 pm. A Rosary will follow at 7:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held Thursday, April 18th, 2024 at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, beginning at 11:00 am. Father Timothy Geckle will officiate the service. A brief reception will follow the service in the Church Hall. A private interment will take place at Chalybeate Springs Cemetery, in Mountain View, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sacred Heart playground fund in honor of Kathy’s name.

Pallbearers are William Winter, Brian Bognuda, Jarret Murphy, Jonathan Byrd, Jim Anderson, and Jim Curon.
