Obituary: Gary Walton Brock

Gary Walton Brock of Gainsboro, Arkansas, formerly of Elgin, departed his worldly home on Monday, April 22, 2024, at the age of 77. He was born July 6, 1946, the son of Henry Walton and Naomi Lee (Stoner) Brock.
Gary was a carpenter by trade and was also the former owner and operator of Brock’s Liquor Store and Spanky’s Bar at Elgin.

Gary was a lover of all animals and rescued many dogs over the years. His beloved, Mitzi, his buddy, Petey, and his girl, Roxie, were his loves. Gary enjoyed spending time hunting and watching westerns and old movies. He was an avid reader and Razorback fan.

Gary was preceded in death by one son, Robert Brock; one daughter, Kim Clark; his brother, Jerry Brock; a sister, Joan Fortenberry; and his parents.

He is survived by his life partner, Debbie Henderson, of the home; his son, Chad Odom and wife, Tonia, of Tuckerman; three daughters, Lori Brock of Marion, Keri Brock of San Antonio, Texas, and Heather Brock of Bellevue, Michigan; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren, with one on the way.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Cheshier Cemetery, with Mr. Buddy Combs officiating. Friends may visit Jackson’s Funeral Home on Thursday, prior to the service, beginning at 12:30 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held after the service at Lisa G’s, formerly known as Spanky’s, at Elgin.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Chad Odom, Billy Don Soden, Jr., Heath Combs, Jason Fortenberry, Todd Fortenberry, Brad Brock, Joey Fortenberry, Kyler Soden, and Mark Watson. Honorary pallbearers are his lifelong friends, Pete Jiles, Larry “Buckshot” Nicholson, Dennis Long, Buddy Combs, and the late Billy Don Soden, Sr.

The Brock family would like to extend a special thanks to Gary’s caregivers who provided care throughout the years.
