Batesville City Council approves zoning changes for former Batesville Country Club property

The Batesville City Council’s Tuesday meeting focused on infrastructure investments, zoning modifications, and administrative authorizations.

The council approved a resolution granting the utilities manager authority to sign certain documents regarding funding administered by the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission, which aims to streamline administrative processes.

An ordinance was approved by the council to amend the Batesville Zoning Districts Map at the northeast corner of Central Avenue and Ross Street, from R-2 to C-2.

And, the council approved an ordinance to modify the Batesville Zoning Districts Map. Lance Lamberth, of Spitfire Investments LLC, requested the property that was home to the former Batesville Country Club to be rezoned to facilitate development, allowing for both commercial and residential use.

During the meeting, Lamberth conveyed his positive outlook for the potential commercial and residential development on the rezoned property, utilizing available acreage within the town.

“This is part of a master plan. We’re excited about it and the potential it has,” Lamberth told the council. “We’re glad to have the opportunity and want to build something you’re really proud of.”

The next Batesville City Council meeting is scheduled for May 14.
