Members of Calvary Baptist Church in Batesville loaded a trailer full of Operation Christmas Child (OCC) Shoe Boxes Tuesday, Nov. 21. The boxes contained items such as stuffed animals, children’s clothing, and toys and will be given to underprivileged kids.
The church members noted 2017 was a record year for boxes in Batesville and Independence County. All told, 3,890 boxes were collected from supporters in the county. Eighteen volunteers helped with the collection while Spartan Mowers provided a truck, trailer and driver to transport the boxes to a regional center in Judsonia. The boxes will then go to a national distribution center in Dallas.
