A man killed in a mid-December shooting in Mountain Home was a former longtime Chicago police officer.
The Chicago Tribune reported yesterday that Chester Hornowski, 71, worked for the Chicago Police Department for over 30 years and had retired to Mountain Home to run a boarding house. Hornowski was found with multiple gunshot wounds Dec. 5 at the boarding house. A suspect who was a tenant at the house was arrested after he crashed his vehicle while fleeing the scene. He faces a charge of first-degree murder.
