Tractor stolen from Camp Tahkodah Rd. property

UPDATE, 3:30 p.m., Jan. 3, 2018:The Independence County Sheriff’s Department has reported the tractor has been found in Thida. No arrests have been made but there is a person of interest.

Independence County Sheriff’s Deputy Bret Ward recently went to the scene of a felony theft in the 5000 block of Camp Tahkodah Road.

Ward noted a new, orange in color Kubota 70-40 series tractor, owned by Steven Smith, was stolen from the location. Ward said the tractor was equipped with front and rear hay forks and had a canopy top.

Ward said apparently, whoever stole the tractor ran over a gate near the barn, and drove to the other end of the property where another gate opening to Camp Tahkodah Road was damaged and removed.  Ward said it appeared the tractor entered the roadway and traveled toward Floral.

Deputies are still searching for the tractor, and it has been entered into the Arkansas Crime Information Center as stolen.  The tractor is valued at $37,000.
