Stone County man in custody after resisting arrest at sheriff’s department

An Edgemont, Ark. man was taken into custody after resisting arrest at the Stone County Sheriff’s Department.

Danuel Osburn had driven to the department Wednesday, Jan. 3, to pay a fine, according to a statement from Sheriff Lance Bonds.

After contact from Arkansas State Trooper B. Johnson of Troop I regarding a 2017 arrest warrant on Osburn, investigators with the sheriff’s department, Arkansas State Police, and an agent with the 16th Judicial Task Force attempted to serve the warrant on Osburn.

When officers told Osburn he was under arrest, Osburn became defiant and refused to be incarcerated. A scuffle ensued, at which time Osburn was contained and handcuffed.

The Dec. 11 warrant was issued after Osburn had been contacted by other officers and was in possession of a firearm. Osburn is a convicted felon and therefore cannot possess a firearm under Arkansas law.

Osburn is currently in custody at the Stone County Detention Center where he awaits trial for possession of firearms by certain persons and resisting arrest. His bond has been set at $10,000.
