The two-story rock building on Batesville’s Third Street that formerly housed the city’s phone company and water department was destroyed by fire early yesterday morning. The building was since converted into office space.
The Batesville Fire Department was called to the scene around 3 a.m. and was still on site mid-morning Friday.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
