Stone County Circuit Court news: felony drug violations, hindering apprehension

A Stone County woman was charged this week in Stone County Circuit Court with two felony drug violations.

The court information says Valerie M. Butler, 45, admitted to authorities that she was selling marijuana out of her residence on State Highway 66 West for a known drug dealer.

Butler has been charged with maintaining a drug premises and possession of a controlled substance with an amount over 4 ounces but less than 25 pounds.

Her bond has been set at $5,000.

In other Stone County Circuit Court news, a Stone County couple has been charged in with hindering apprehension — a felony.

The charge relates to authorities looking for their son, Clayton Stevens.   The court information says the parents, Melba Lynn and Lloyd W. Stevens, were made aware that Clayton was wanted for residential burglary and agreed to inform the sheriff’s office of Clayton’s whereabouts. The court documents said after that time, the parents had seen or been with Clayton on numerous occasions but had not informed authorities of his whereabouts.   

The court information also said that Clayton Stevens has now been apprehended.

The bonds set on the couple were $10,000 each.
