The search for an absconder at a Southside residence on Valentine’s Day also landed the home’s occupant in jail on drug charges.

Independence County Sheriff Shawn Stephens, Narcotics Investigator Johnny Byler, and Det. Aaron Moody assisted Arkansas Community Corrections Agent Krista Huston with a home visit on Allen Chapel Road, Feb. 14, according to records from Independence County Circuit Court

Information obtained by Huston said an absconder, Jacob Spykerman, was at the residence. Spykerman was found hiding in the back bedroom and taken into custody.  The residence was occupied by Autumn Rae Pearce, 24, who was not at home.  Authorities contacted Pearce and advised her to return to the residence.

Officers had found a safe in the master bedroom. Upon arrival, Pearce opened the combination lock safe which contained meth, several plastic baggies, a set of digital scales, and $900 in United States currency.

Pearce was arrested and charged with two felonies:  possession of meth greater than 10 grams with the purpose to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia to process and prepare meth.

Pearce was placed in jail on a $10,000 bond.
