Man in custody after shooting in Sharp County

One man is in custody and another is on the lam after a shooting Friday, Feb. 23, on White Horse Mountain Road in Sharp County.

Sharp County Sheriff Mark Counts said a call was answered of multiple gunshots fired on White Horse Mountain Road with five law enforcement agencies responding, including the Sharp County Sheriff’s Department.

Upon arrival, officers began an investigation and learned that Marvin Brown and Joshua Miller approached a male subject driving in the area and an altercation occurred. Multiple shots were fired, and one round struck the victim’s vehicle. Officers made contact with Marvin Brown, who became belligerent. He was taken into custody and placed in the Sharp County Jail.

Counts said law enforcement obtained a search warrant of Brown’s residence and found: a pound of marijuana, numerous drug paraphernalia items, a pistol and numerous rounds of various ammunition.

Sheriff Counts said Marvin Brown is facing the possibility of several felony charges including:  Aggravated assault, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, possession of firearms by a certain person, possession of a controlled substance, manufacturing a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor resisting arrest.

An affidavit issued for the arrest of Joshua Miller, according to Sheriff Counts.
