After a Rose Bud High School student passed out in class in sudden cardiac death last week, school nurse Jeanie Cook jumped into action, performing CPR and utilizing an automatic emergency defibrillator until paramedics arrived.
Sudden cardiac death occurs when the heart unexpectedly begins beating abnormally and causes a loss of blood flow. The student will receive a pacemaker this week.
