Two propane companies in the Batesville area were burglarized early Friday morning, March 2.

Heritage Propane, located at 2105 N. St. Louis St., was apparently the first store entered by breaking the glass out of the front door and going inside.

Police say the office building appeared to be rummaged through, but apparently, nothing was taken. The burglar also seemed to climb on the roof of the building in order to move the video security camera so it pointed toward the ground, according to police.

Then, sometime a little later that morning, Reeves Propane, located at 2842 Batesville Blvd., was burglarized.

The business was entered through the back door by busting out the glass window. Nothing was reported stolen although several items in the store had been moved. Police say the security alarm company reported that when the alarm went off, they called the store. A man answered the phone and told the security company it was a “false alarm.”

Police say both burglaries are still under investigation, and Independence County Sheriff Shawn Stephens said there is a suspect in the cases.
