Longtime Jackson County resident Jasper Beede has announced he will run as a Republican in the race for Jackson County Sheriff.

A minister since 1981, Beede has been educated in criminal justice, electrical technology and has worked in criminal justice for 17 years. He has also been a business owner and active in the community, noted a statement announcing Beede’s candidacy.

“The Beede family has 600 years of service to the people as members of the government, teachers, business owners, nurses, and farmers,” Wyant Beede, mayor of Beedeville, Ark. and Jasper Beede’s brother, said in the statement. “All of the families believe in the love of God first, and then the love of family and community. I think that is why we have been in Jackson County so long: because the people of Jackson County as a whole are the same way…just good hometown people.”
