K-9 unit finds missing child in Timbo area

A K-9 unit from the North Central Unit in Calico Rock quickly found a six-year-old child reported missing after wandering from a residence in the Timbo area, according to a release from the Stone County Sheriff’s Office.

Officers with the sheriff’s office were contacted around 5 p.m. Friday, March 9, in reference to the missing child, noted Stone County Sheriff Lance Bonds. The office then contacted the North Central K-9 unit and requested to respond to the area in regard to the search effort.

While awaiting the K-9 team, an immediate search of the area was conducted however, the juvenile was not located.

After arriving and beginning the search, the team’s K-9s alerted within several minutes to what was believed to be the scent of the missing child. After approximately one hour, the K-9 Team advised that the child had been located and that the child was uninjured.

“Sheriff Bonds fully supports the North Central K-9 Unit and the tremendous role they play in Stone County. Sheriff Bonds once again thanks the team for the assistance and service,” the Stone County Sheriff’s Office noted in the statement.
