A man and his companion have been charged in Stone County Circuit Court with felony theft by receiving and improper use of a vehicle registration.

A brush guard and a tailgate were in the possession of Scottie Lee Bramlett, 44, and Crystal Joy Housley, 39. Their vehicle was in Harp’s parking lot when Johnny McDaniel, the owner of the brush guard and tailgate, spotted the two items on the couple’s truck.

McDaniel’s truck had been stolen on Feb. 10 and was recovered in Alco, but with some items missing from the truck, including the tailgate and brush guard.

The couple’s story of how they came about the two items apparently did not hold up under the investigative scrutiny of Jeremy Beaudin, a criminal investigator with the Mountain View Police Department.

During the investigation, it was also found that the couple’s truck had a license plate on it that was registered to a Clinton, Ark., man’s vehicle. That improper use is an unclassified misdemeanor.

The couple was taken into custody and charged. Their bonds were set at $15,000 each.
