As the Primary Election time approaches, we see that there are three races in Izard County of note — two are for major county offices.

For County Judge in the Democratic Primary, Thomas Ward will face Warren Anthony Skelton. That winner will move on to face incumbent Republican Eric Smith.

The Sheriff’s race is one of the “hot” items in Izard County.

Chief Deputy Earnie Blackley will face Carl Russell in the Republican Primary.  The winner will then face Democrat Rick Kimble in the fall.

The other race is in the Republican primary for Justice of the Peace, District 3.  Vying for that Quorum Court position is John Walker and Dale Ivy. The winner between those two will move on to face two others in November — Democrat Jared Johnson and Independent candidate Randy “Hank” Sherrell.
