The Independence County Sheriff’s Department is warning retail operators about “movie replica” $1 and $10 bills and counterfeit $20 bills.
The sheriff released two reports today (Tuesday) about fake bills being passed at Doublebee’s in Newark and Dollar General on Allen Chapel Road in Southside.
Sheriff department deputies are making the rounds and advising store employees to examine all bills received and make sure they are not fake or counterfeit. Deputies say there are people currently passing fake bills.
Police are right now following up on a lead they received concerning those fake bills.
