Arkansas Folk Fest coming to Mountain View this weekend

The 56th Annual Arkansas Folk Fest will unfold this weekend in Mountain View. On Friday, April 20, food vendors will be open all day on the courthouse square. The Artisan Market will open at 11 a.m. with live music on the square beginning at noon. Individuals and groups you can enjoy before that will be: Don Mellon & Mary Parker, Silas Cerjan, John Severs & Company, Possum Juice, Grace Stormont, and Love Holler.

The evening’s festivities will conclude with an old-fashioned contra dance on the square beginning at 6:30 p.m.

On Saturday, the Artisan Market will open at 9 a.m., and the parade opening ceremony beginning at 10 a.m. The theme of this year’s parade is “Old Time Pride.”  Parade Grand Marshalls will be Mountain View natives, Chief Justice of the Arkansas Supreme Court, Judge John Dan Kemp and his wife Susan, a longtime festival volunteer.

Food vendors will also be open all day, and the live music on the square will begin following the parade. The talent will include: Ozark Granny Chicks, Simply Southern Cloggers, 5 South, Pulaski County Rackensack, Bonafide String Band, Twang, and Mary Parker & the White River Ramblers. There will be also be a Talent Show at 2 p.m. Saturday.
