A Tuesday drug bust by local and district authorities netted thousands of dollars in methamphetamine taken off the streets, and several arrests made.
The bust was an effort of the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force, Batesville Police Department, and the Independence County Sheriff’s Department.
During the execution of a search warrant, over two pounds of methamphetamine was discovered, and five people were arrested.
Sheriff Shawn Stephens said those arrested are awaiting formal charges and noted all information on the bust has been provided to the prosecuting attorney’s office. More information will be available when formal charges are filed with the Independence County Circuit Clerk’s office, according to the sheriff.
