Day two of the Victoria Dycus murder trial, Thursday, May 10, found much of the time taken by the testimony and cross-examination of Dr. Stephen Erickson of the Arkansas State Crime Lab.
The trial is being held at the Stone County Courthouse in Mountain View. Dycus and her boyfriend, James Hagan Glenn, were arrested in December of 2016 in connection with the death of Dycus’ four-year-old daughter, Skylar Shellstrom.
Dr. Erickson testified as an expert witness for the autopsy results of Skylar Shellstrom. She died on November 19, 2016. Erickson testified that she died from blunt force trauma to the abdomen.
The doctor said that the child clearly suffered from “Chronically Battered Child Syndrome.” Dycus was also on the stand, testifying on her own behalf.
It is our information that Victoria Dycus was offered, but rejected, a negotiated plea of 25 years in prison for her part in the death. The jury is expected to return a verdict at some point today.
