newsbackground-1-15

Felony charges were filed last Friday, May 25, in Independence County Circuit Court accusing a Newark couple of drug violations.

The court record says the violations surfaced when Parole and Probation officers, making a home visit, found used hypodermic needles and a baggie of methamphetamine at the residence of 42-year-old Jeremy Wayne Newberry and 21-year-old Haley Nicole Rose Simmons Newberry.

Each has been charged with two drug-related felonies:  possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia with the purpose to use meth. The court information says that Haley Newberry admitted that “the meth was both of theirs, and they go through 10 needles of meth in two days between them.”

Jeremy W. Newberry is in jail on a $10,000 bond. Haley Newberry is not in custody and has been placed on a $5,000 bond.
