Come Saturday, it will be fresh vegetables for Newport.
That is when the Downtown Newport Farmers’ Market will officially open for the season.
Vendors say they will be selling lettuce, cabbage, squash, peas, and blackberries as well as a variety of baked goods, handmade soaps, plants, bedding flowers and more. As the season progresses, more vegetables will be added. After this Saturday’s season opening, the Downtown Newport Farmers’ Market will be open on Wednesdays and Saturdays starting at 7 a.m. each day.
