The Batesville Rotary Club recently announced the recipients of the club’s community awards.

The Making a Difference Community Service Award went to George Latus.  The award honors a person who has been making a significant contribution to the community.  Latus was recognized for his work with the Explorer Scouts annual Canoe Race from Lake Norfork down the White River to Batesville.  It is timed to coincide with the White River Water Carnival.  George also serves on the Batesville School Board.

The Outstanding Community Service Award went to Mary Beth Frensley.  The award is presented to a person who has made a dramatic impact on the community.

The Doctor/Nurse/or Caseworker of the Year Award went to Ranotta Marlow.  The award is given annually to a person in the profession who has gone beyond the call of duty and/or improved treatment or care.

Amber Barnett of Batesville High School was recognized with the Teacher of the Year Award.  This award is for a teacher who goes out of their way to support their students.

And, the Role Model of the Year Award went to Batesville Schools Resource Officer, Cord Davidson.  This award is given to a public servant, such as a policeman, who goes beyond the call of duty.
