State Police: Four killed in east Arkansas crash involving a train

A driver and his three passengers were killed yesterday in an eastern Arkansas crash involving a train at a railroad crossing, according to information from the Arkansas State Police.

John W. Miller, 44, of Orange Park, Fla., attempted to cross railroad tracks in his 2009 Hyundai Sonata at a private drive off Hwy. 49 in the Cross County community of Tilton around 5:40 p.m. when his vehicle was struck by a southbound train, according to the preliminary fatal crash summary from Arkansas State Trooper Jason Murphy.

Miller was killed, along with three passengers in his vehicle: 48-year-old Joetta R. Honey of Jonesboro; 30-year-old Nicholas L. Newton of McCrory; and 21-year-old Kayanna R. Newton of McCrory.

Weather and road conditions were reported clear and dry, respectfully, at the time.
