Miss Historic Batesville was selected Saturday night in Little Rock as Miss Arkansas 2018. 22-year-old Claudia Raffo (above) is a 2017 graduate of Arkansas State University at Jonesboro, her hometown. She is a student at the UAMS School of Pharmacy.
Miss Raffo’s platform was: “New Life Saves Lives: Umbilical Cord Donation.”
The top 10 of the 44 contestants in the Miss Arkansas Pageant competed live, on-stage in four events: individual talent, answering an on-stage question, evening gown and swimwear. Raffo won the Fitness in Swimsuit preliminary and a $1,000 Service Above Self scholarship.
Miss White River, selected in Batesville as part of the White River Water Carnival activities, was also in the top 10 which performed live on stage Saturday night.
Winning the Miss Arkansas 2018 title came with a $30,000 scholarship and $75,000 in gifts, transportation, and wardrobe.
And, the honor of representing Arkansas in the Miss America 2019 Pageant in Atlantic City, N.J., in September.
