Juvenile Detention Center posts profit for the month of June

The White River Juvenile Detention Center in Batesville overcame staffing problems in June to post just over a $37,000 profit for the month.

Information supplied to the Independence County Quorum Court said the center had three staff members resign due to medical issues. In addition, one employee was terminated for missing mandatory training and missing consecutive days at work without notifying the facility. After posting the job openings, several prospective employees applied for the jobs, and the center was able to select three applicants with law enforcement experience as well as juvenile justice educational backgrounds.

The information said the White River Juvenile Detention Center took in $140,268, and its operating expenses were $102,965. — in the black by just over $37,000.
