The City of Batesville just released this statement regarding the stoplight at Harrison and Sidney Street in Batesville being struck by lightning this morning.
The stoplight located at Harrison and Sidney Street took a direct hit by lightning this morning, Friday, July 20, around 9 a.m.
The light is non-functioning and could possibly be out for the next 24 hours or longer.
Officers are on the scene to help with traffic and crews from both the City of Batesville and the Arkansas Department of Transportation are working to install temporary stop signs, changing the intersection to a 4-way stop. Please avoid this intersection if possible but if you must travel in this area use extreme caution.
