A tragic accident over the weekend injured two children, ages 5 and 8, at Oil Trough.
The two were reportedly playing in a storm cellar where gasoline was present. It apparently exploded, causing burns to the bodies of both children.
Oil Trough Fire Chief Jimmy McDaniels said it was the most difficult and upsetting fire case he has worked in his 30 years with the department.
The accident is under investigation, and according to Independence County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Aaron Moody, more information should be released tomorrow.
