A longtime Stone County teacher and coach passed away this week at home in Mountain View. Hinkle Decker was 71 years old.
After graduating from Arkansas State University, Decker worked for 31 years as a teacher and coach. A testament to his passion as a coach was quite evident in the life-long bonds he made with his players at Fifty-Six and Mountain View. He was also a cattle farmer, and he and his family were recognized as the Stone County Farm Family of the Year in 2015. Decker was also a long-time member of the Flatwoods Missionary Baptist Church.
Visitation was held on Wednesday with funeral services held today at the Flatwoods Missionary Baptist Church. His burial followed the service at the Flatwoods Cemetery.
