Mountain View man charged with assault on a family member

willett-2

A Mountain View man has been charged with assault on a family member, a felony, and an enhanced penalty is asked if a guilty verdict is reached. The enhanced penalty is called for because the felony was committed in the presence of a child.

The charge on 21-year-old Justin L. Willett is the result of an incident on July 24 of this year where Willett is accused of aggravated assault on a female companion, striking her on the head and shoulders with a closed fist while she was holding their child, then later throwing her down and covering her mouth and nose, restricting her breathing. At the time that occurred, she was trying to call for help.

Also, the district judge has issued a “no contact” order against Willett. He is not to have any contact with the victim or her immediate family.

Willett has been placed on a $25,000 bond.
