Last Saturday (Aug. 11), Deputy Jim Doss of the Stone County Sheriff’s Department took a report of a vehicle being stolen from the Blanchard Springs campground.
In the court record, the complainant said while they were asleep, 44-year-old Charles Edward Ferguson, entered their tent, stole the keys to their pickup truck, and left in it.
Later, the court information said Officer Joe Beaudin spotted the truck, stopped it and found Ferguson was the driver. In checking him, Beaudin found Ferguson was driving on a suspended license. Beaudin said, in addition, he found a pipe and rolling papers used in smoking marijuana.
Ferguson was arrested and charged with felony theft of property; possession of Drug Paraphernalia — a misdemeanor; and driving while his license was suspended, canceled or revoked.
Ferguson was taken to jail where he was placed on a $10,000 bond.
