The Stage department store in the Eagle Mountain shopping center informed Batesville Police Department officers late Thursday (Aug. 16) evening that a woman had locked herself in a dressing room with a huge amount of clothing from the store and would not come out.

The woman went into the dressing room area about closing time, and over an hour later, she was still in the dressing room. They also informed officers she appeared to be intoxicated.

Patrolman Bart Wilkerson entered the dressing room area and saw 28-year-old Camilla Lillian Fulks of the general Newark area, sitting on a huge pile of clothes, with other clothing on racks and scattered around the room, according to the report. The store management said later Fulks had piled up over $2,000 worth of clothing.

An investigation followed that showed Stage wasn’t the first to experience Fulks that night. She had been at Walmart and taken $118 in multiple clothing items and at Murphy USA and taken $143 in merchandise which included three pairs of sunglasses and five sets of phone chargers.

All the merchandise taken at Walmart and Murphy USA was returned by officers.

Fulks was given a sobriety test, which indicated intoxication. She was taken to jail. Officers say she now faces several charges including three counts of theft, public intoxication, and disorderly conduct.
