Arrest warrants have been issued for two people accused in the break-in of a garage and two vehicles on Boswell Street in Batesville.
Several items were taken from two vehicles in the garage including driver’s licenses, three credit/debit cards, and a checkbook.
It was later discovered that two checks from the vehicle were used to pay for merchandise at Walmart in Batesville. Store video helped the Batesville Police Department identify the man and woman accused in the court information.
The warrants call for the arrest of 29-year-old Amanda Marie Hanna and 37-year-old Derrick Dewayne Hicks. Batesville Police Department documents say Hanna and Hicks were identified on in-store video at Walmart as having committed forgery in the second degree.
Hanna is to be charged in Independence County Circuit Court with two counts of second-degree forgery; two counts of theft by receiving; and one count of nonfinancial identity fraud.
Hicks is to be charged with two counts of criminal conspiracy to commit forgery in the second degree. Hicks is also to be tried as a habitual offender, having previously been convicted of four or more felonies. He actually has previously been convicted of 12 prior felonies.
