newsbackground-1-50

A Stone County man has been charged in Stone County Circuit Court with Aggravated Assault of his estranged wife. 37-year-old Charles J. Youngberg is charged as the result of an incident on Aug. 25 in which he is accused of assaulting Autumn Youngberg, his estranged wife.

Charles Youngberg is also charged with first-degree criminal mischief after he damaged Autumn’s Chevrolet Tahoe as she was using the vehicle to escape the assault. He is also accused of endangering the welfare of a minor in the second degree. Police say they have photographs of Autumn Youngberg’s injuries to her head, both hands and arms, as well as injuries to her throat and neck area.

The prosecution is asking for an enhanced penalty because his alleged offenses were committed in the presence of children. Prosecutors are also charging Youngberg under the habitual offender act, as he has previously been convicted of four felonies. Being tried under the act will also enhance his sentence if he is convicted of the charges.

Youngberg’s bond has been set at $20,000.  In addition, he has been placed under a no contact order. He has been ordered by the judge to have no contact, either directly or indirectly, by person, telephone, mail or other means with Autumn or her minor children or any member of her immediate family.
