Local company bids on big highway project

newsbackground-1-57

A big road project in the northeastern part of the state drew only one bidder with two companies ultimately joining forces to bid the project. Atlas Asphalt of Batesville and  Delta Asphalt of Arkansas joined on the bid, which was just over $62,000,000.

The project is 14.3 miles of State Hwy. 412 in Lawrence and Greene Counties. It is a combination of structures and pavement.

The two companies said it would take 1,000 days of work time to complete the project.

Mark Lamberth, president of Atlas Asphalt, said with only one bid, the highway commission will take a look at all the numbers and compare that with their estimation.

After that, the commission will decide whether or not to accept the bid. Lamberth said that should take about a week.
