The Batesville Area Arts Council (BAAC) is currently presenting the 2018 Small Works on Paper, an annual touring visual arts exhibition coordinated by the Arkansas Arts Council, a division of the Department of Arkansas Heritage, which showcases the work of Arkansas artists. The exhibition will be on display at the BAAC Gallery on Main, 226 E. Main St, through Oct. 27.

“Now in its 31st year, the Small Works on Paper exhibition offers an extraordinary opportunity for artists to have their work seen by patrons all over the state,” said Stacy Hurst, director of the Department of Arkansas Heritage. “Each year, the exhibition features the work of both established and up-and-coming artists and offers an eclectic mix of mediums and a variety of content.”

Small Works on Paper is a juried exhibition that showcases artwork by Arkansas artists that is no larger than 18 by 24 inches. Thirty-nine pieces are featured in the yearlong show, which travels to 10 galleries statewide. The touring schedule is available at arkansasarts.org.

This year’s entries were juried by James Phillips, an associate professor in the Department of Arts at Howard University in Washington, D.C. Artists in the show are members of the Arkansas Artist Registry, an online gallery of Arkansas artists’ work.

Gallery hours are Tuesday – Friday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
