Two women have been charged in Independence County Circuit Court with the theft of over $5,000 from a Batesville residence along with the theft of a firearm.

An 18-year-old suspect, Chelsea Bailey Yocum, is in custody, and an arrest warrant has been issued for the other woman, 47-year-old Kathy J. Kiefer.

The court information went on to say Kiefer is an ex-wife of the victim and knew the combination to a safe where the stolen property was kept. The victim said the other woman, Chelsea Yocum, is the mother to his son’s baby and along with the son, had been staying at his residence.

Both have been charged with two counts of theft, and one count of breaking and entering. All three charges are felonies.

Yocum has been placed on a $7,000 bond, and Kiefer will also be facing bail of $7,000.
