Remains of individual found in Mountain View residence destroyed by fire

Remains of an individual were found today in a Mountain View residence that was destroyed by fire on Monday.

The residence located at 6875 Hanover Rd. in Mountain View as fully engulfed in flames when Stone County authorities responded to the fire on Monday. Information received suggested a 91-year-old female who lived at the address was possibly inside the residence. Due to the temperatures of the fire, a recovery search could not be conducted until today. Remains of an invididual were located and have been submitted to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for further investigation, according to a press release from the Stone County Sheriff’s Department.

Stone County Investigator Brad Breeding has been assigned as the lead investigator on the case. The Stone County Sheriff’s Department is being assisted by the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division.

At this time, no foul play is expected, however, the department considers this an active investigation.

  1. This was my closest next door neighbor My heart and prayers go out to John and Lois’ family’s. I cannot grasp the unanswered questions why.
