Two deputies with the Stone County Sheriff’s Department helped save the life of a juvenile found hanging by an extension cord, according to a release from Sheriff Lance Bonds’ office.
Deputies Justin Meeks and Michael Tharp were dispatched to a Stone County residence on Nov. 24 for a welfare check on a juvenile individual. Upon arrival, the deputies knocked and received no response from inside the residence. After looking through a window, Meeks and Tharp observed a juvenile hanging from a wood beam by an extension cord that was wrapped around the juvenile’s neck. The door was immediately forced open by the deputies who, once inside, removed the extension cord holding the unresponsive juvenile, according to the release.
The juvenile was placed on the floor and attended to by the deputies until the juvenile’s breathing resumed. Once emergency medical personnel arrived, the juvenile was transported to a medical center for treatment.
In the release, the sheriff commended Meeks and Tharp for saving the life of the individual.
