Stewart-Lange earns 300th career victory, 112-47, over Stephens College

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Saturday was a historic day for the 20th-ranked Lyon College women’s basketball team as the Scots set the program record for the most points scored in a single game and head coach Tracy Stewart-Lange earned her 300th career win as Lyon defeated Stephens College, 112-47, in American Midwest Conference (AMC) action.

The Scots, winners of six straight, improved to 6-1 (4-0 AMC) on the season.

Madison Riley opened up the game with the first five points for Lyon and set the tone early for the Scots in the opening minutes of the first quarter. The Scots extended their lead to double-digits after seven points by Liz Henderson, two points by Ali Tucker and four points by Samantha French. The Scots led by as many as 24 points in the quarter and took a 32-11 lead after the first period.

The Scots lead grew to 41-points late in the second quarter. Stephens College cut the deficit to 35 with an 8-2 run but a bucket by Whitney Wagganer just before the halftime buzzer sounded gave the Scots a 65-28 advantage.

Lyon ran away with the game in the second half as the Scots outscored the Stars, 47-19, over the final two quarters.

Lyon shot over 60-percent from the field in the game (41-for-68) and limited Stephens to just over 30-percent shooting (17-for-55).

Every player who saw playing time in the game scored for Lyon as Ali Tucker paced the Scots with a game-high 20 points, including shooting 5-of-7 from beyond the arc. Mikenna Burnett led Stephens with 18 points.

The Scots will take a brief break from AMC play and will travel to Philander Smith College for a non-conference game on Dec. 6 at 5 p.m.
