Attempted armed robbery at a Batesville restaurant stopped by employees

news-background-1-2-5

Batesville Police Chief Alan Cockrill said an attempted armed robbery occurred at Wendy’s Restaurant on Saint Louis Street in Batesville, Monday night.

The Chief stated the call came in around 9:30 p.m. and his officers were quickly on the scene. Apparently, the actions of the employees on duty prevented a theft from occurring.  Chief Cockrill said the would-be thief was a black male who had a firearm, but did not use it. The culprit fled on foot, according to Chief Cockrill.

An investigation is underway. More details will be provided at a later date.
