Following up on information received earlier this month, the Stone County Sheriff’s Office recently launched an investigation of a Stone County couple regarding the of rape of a minor female.
The court information said from the defendant’s interviews and statements, it was learned that the defendant and the minor victim had engaged in multiple incidents of sexual intercourse, sexual contact and deviate sexual activity over a period of years.
In cooperation with the Arkansas Crimes Against Children Division and the Criminal Investigators of the Arkansas State Police, the sheriff’s office completed the investigation and forwarded the information to the prosecuting attorney.
This week, the prosecutor filed charges in Stone County Circuit Court against Stephanie and Lloyd Stair.
Lloyd Stair is charged with eight counts of rape which the court documents indicate occurred over the last six years. Stephanie Stair is accused by investigators of knowing what was going on and doing nothing about it. She is charged with eight counts of permitting abuse of a minor. Both have been taken into custody and placed in the Stone County Jail awaiting their first court appearance.
Lloyd Stair’s bond was set at $250,000 while Stephanie Stair’s bond was set at $125,000.
