On Dec. 11, Det. Michael Moody and Independence County Sheriff Shawn Stevens conducted a traffic stop. The occupants, Steven Tucker and Amy Malin were found to be related to Daryl Malin, who has an active warrant for his arrest.

According to a report from the Independence County Sheriff’s Department, the officers asked Malin and Tucker about Malin’s location so they could attempt arrest.

Malin is a registered sex offender in the county and upon inquiry and further research, officers found that the current address on file was no longer occupied by Malin.

Registered sex offenders are required to notify law enforcement ten days prior to relocation and within three days of establishing a new residence. Failure to maintain updated information in the sex offender registration file is a Class C felony.

Moody has requested a warrant for the arrest of Malin and that he also be charged as a habitual offender due to his history of felony convictions.
