Two Independence County overlay pavement projects were completed last week with Atlas Asphalt out of Batesville contracting the work.

Approximately one-mile of Jamestown Road from the intersection with Highway 25 (Heber Springs Road) to the bridge just before entering the Jamestown Bottoms was overlaid, and Antioch Road and Shamrock Lane from North Charlotte to White Drive was the other state aid/Independence County project finished last week.

Independence County Judge Robert Griffin said state aid is around $90,000 per mile. The section of Jamestown Road between the church and the hull must be rebuilt before paving can be done, Griffin says.

After the rebuilding is completed, it will be paved, according to the judge.
