A vehicle pursuit that started in Batesville Friday night, Dec. 28, later ended in Izard County with four suspects in custody.

Around 9 p.m., Batesville Police began the pursuit, which headed northward from Batesville on Highway 69.  Independence County Sheriff Shawn Stephens and some of his deputies then joined the chase, which covered some backroads in the Cushman area before heading to Izard County. Deputies from the Izard County Sheriff’s Department joined the chase with Sheriff Stephens.

Later, the pursued vehicle struck an Izard County police unit and then headed toward Sage. On Highway 69, the vehicle then struck another Izard County police unit which immobilized the suspect’s vehicle.

At that time, four suspects ran from the vehicle into a field. Three of those four were quickly apprehended: Trevor Lynn Woodham, 24; Tiara Renee Trammell, 20; and  Britanie Leeann Lopez, 27. The fourth suspect managed a brief escape. A K-9 tracking dog was brought in and the fleeing suspect was the caught. He was identified as the driver of the vehicle: River Don Eugene White, 21.

White is facing several Independence County charges, according to Stephens: 1) fleeing, disregarding stop or yield signs, driving left of center, speeding and reckless driving — all misdemeanors.

White is also facing charges in Izard County, according to Stephens.

On their official Facebook page, the Independence County Sheriff’s Department wrote:

This would not have been possible without the joint efforts of all departments involved. We would like to thank each and every department for their assistance in getting the four individuals off the streets and making our communities a safer place to live. It takes all agencies working together to better serve each and every one of our citizens. We are forever grateful that each and every officer is going home safe and sound at the end of their watch.
