On Sunday, Dec. 30, a back seat passenger in a vehicle pulled over on a traffic stop in Independence County was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.

Court records indicate, Dakota James Thompson, 24, was found to have an active warrant for his arrest. Once Thompson was taken out of the vehicle, a portion of a baggie of methamphetamine was found where Thompson was standing. The other portion of the baggie was found lying in the back seat where Thompson was seated.

Records also state that deputies noticed a crystalline substance in the back floorboard area where Thompson sat.

Thompson has been charged in Independence County Circuit Court with felony possession of a controlled substance.  His bond was set at $10,000.
